The sub-aquatic light was designed and built to comply with the National Electrical Code. All of the components that make up the light are UL approved. The light has a mercury vapor bulb with a 24,000 hour useful life. The design allows for the bulb to be easily replaced when it burns out. Click here for light bulb replacement instructions.
The control box is a hard plastic with a lockable clasp. It houses the electric eye and starter and is NEMA certified for use in wet locations, i.e., outdoors.

The electric cable is housed in a conduit that meets code for outside use. This keeps the cable from being abraded by the action of the water and reduces the chances of the cable being penetrated by a sharp object such as a fish hook. The cable is connected to the control box which in turn is plugged into a GFCI(Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter). The photo-electric eye turns the light on and off from dusk till dawn and could be attached to a timer if desired.

The light comes with its own integral weight for keeping it securely on the bottom. You pour concrete (half a cubic foot) in the attached pan, let it harden and you are ready to install.

This design allows for placing the light wherever you want it without having to get into the water. A unique design lets the bulb rotate 360 degrees and as such the unit can be thrown into the water and the natural buoyancy of the bulb will keep the light in a vertical position. The unit can be placed as deep as twenty feet and still emit a reasonable cone of light on the surface. However, we have found the optimum depth to be 12 to 4 feet from the surface. The light has been designed so that this optimal depth can be achieved even in water as deep as 40 feet.
